Translating Words and Phrases

ABBYY Lingvo allows you to translate words and phrases both in the program's main window and in other applications (e.g. in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Internet Explorer, Opera, Microsoft Outlook, Notepad).

You can translate a word or phrase:

• By selecting it in the word list
• By typing it in the search field.
• By translating words in the card

In other applications, you can translate words and phrases:

• By pressing the hot keys.
• By selecting the Translate with ABBYY Lingvo command from the local menu (available in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Internet Explorer).
• By clicking on the  Microsoft Word toolbar.
• By dragging and dropping the word or phrase onto the ABBYY Lingvo main window.

The above actions may invoke:

• One or several cards which contain the translations of the search word.
• The Translations window box (if more than 3 cards have been found).
• The Suggestions dialog box (if the word has not been found in any of the enabled dictionaries).
